Dark Storm: ProloguePrologue
The trees rose high overhead, soft green morning light filtering through the leaves. Small blue-green bird fluttered through the trees, chittering happily at each other as they played. On the ground, massive blue and green deer like creatures sifted through the grass and vines.
A dark shadow passed overhead, bringing the serene moment to a close. One of the deer-like animals let out a loud screech and the herd scattered. The small birds shot into the sanctuary of the leaves and braches.
The shadow continued moving on in one direction, seemingly not paying any attention to the animals below it.
The trees abruptly ended, giving way to a huge clear blue lake that would put Lake Superior to shame. The lake was surrounded by huge cliffs, waterfalls draping over the sheer edges. The cliffs where so high that the water turned to mist before it could reach the bottom, giving the whole area a misty and surreal look.
EasterRemember what you love,
you with sand in your teeth
and the feral burn of hunger
in your eyes.
God sends his regrets.
He made you grasping and slow,
in a late hour
when the wine washed low.
Remember what you love.
Fall to your knees in the toss
and the swell, quell
the appetite of the cold black sea.
Beg blessings for your home
and the salt-sick trees.
Reach what lies near:
the fat-faced child, the sweet-soft lamb;
tether the tantrum, trickle the blood.
Offer psalms to what is holy,
whisper the name of what you love
as it bobs in the bleak mad sea.
